Is AI the buzzword of our time?

Is AI the buzzword of our time? Everywhere you go you hear that AI is the future. AI seems to be the solution for everything these days. No matter in which sector you talk to people, everywhere AI is seen as the way to tackle (future) problems. This also applies to the logistics sector, but is this justified?

We notice that decision makers in the logistics sector would like to do 'something' with AI, but do not really know exactly what. Should we use it to develop new services or more to improve current processes? All legitimate questions of course, but are we not missing the point? Yes, with Logichainge we also use our own developed AI models to make our platform more powerful and self-learning for our customers. But we do not do this because AI is a goal in itself.

The first thing you should say to yourself is not 'I want AI', but first ask yourself what do I want to improve within my company? ‘Do I want to enter into new markets’, ‘do I want to improve processes so that my profit margin increases’, ‘do I want to be able to accept more orders with the same number of people, which increases my turnover’? The next step is to discover which (software) solution is the best fit to achieve that goal. If it turns out that AI must be part of that software solution, then that is a well-considered choice to use AI and not because it is hip these days.

AI is not a goal in itself, but a means to achieve (business) goals.

We want to help customers generate more turnover and profit and within our software solutions AI plays an important role. But there is a lot more smart software in our platform that should lead to the ultimate goals. Yes, the absolute advantage of AI is that it learns, so over time the results for our customers only get better. Another advantage is that it can process a large variety of unstructured data, so that brings a lot of flexibility.

But the ultimate conversation with our customer is not about AI itself, but about increased revenues and profit! That is the goal!

After all, we are in it to win it!
